Emmerdale has left fans worried about the fate of Mackenzie Boyd – again – after another dramatic cliffhanger in John Sugden’s dark storyline.
Mack made a great escape from the underground bunker this week after several days in John’s clutches, but he was thwarted when the sly villain caught up with him. Wielding an axe, no less.

John tries to explain away Aaron’s ordeal by claiming that he suffered a one-off seizure after drinking too much whisky. But as Aaron struggles with confused memories of what really happened the day before, will he accept his husband’s explanations?
2. Aaron is confronted over his infidelity
John’s caring act doesn’t last for long. With Aaron still at his mercy, John takes the opportunity to confront him for sleeping with Robert.
Aaron’s horrified as he finds out that John uncovered the truth by searching through his phone and reading his private messages to Mackenzie. Will Aaron apologise, or realise that John is possessive and dangerous?
3. Paddy’s shocked by messages from John

Paddy continues to receive messages from the man he’s been advising via a counselling helpline. John doesn’t realise that Paddy has uncovered him as the person behind the recent cry for help.
In a worrying string of new messages, John hints that he’s made a final decision over his next move – and won’t need to contact the helpline again.
Desperate to do something, Paddy turns to Robert (of all people!) with his concerns…
4. Tracy tries to get Charity on side

Tracy is haunted by the eerie similarities between Nate’s disappearance and Mack’s sudden departure. With plenty of the villagers bad-mouthing Mack, Tracy can’t help wondering if there’s another explanation.
Charity is shocked when Tracy raises the possibility that something sinister could have happened to Mack. Will she get on board with the theory? Or will it be someone else who takes Tracy seriously?
5. There’s no sign of Mack
Mack’s fate remains a mystery after John’s latest sinister act.
Has he got rid of Mack for good this time – or thrown him back in the bunker of doom?
