Emmerdale has confirmed who was in danger after the villainous John Sugden issued another sinister warning.

Things have heated up on the ITV soap in recent weeks, with the deadly doctor keeping Mack Boyd captive after his various crimes almost came to light. He also attempted to control his husband, Aaron, but the plan backfired.

Despite being in a haze for much of the week, Aaron remembered hearing Mack’s voice while discovering a hidden bunker, piecing together that John was bad news. To make matters worse for John, his half-brother Robert and Paddy Dingle have also closed in.

The villain eventually managed to spin the situation on its head as he framed Robert for attempted murder, with Thursday’s (11 September) episode beginning as he faced questioning from the authorities.robert sugden, emmerdale

As he tried in vain to have the police recognise the truth, John began to recover in hospital following his fall in the gorge, with half-sister Victoria informing him that Aaron was in a coma following the incident.

John was soon interrogated by the police, with the villain twisting events in order to implicate Robert. In a bid to support his story, John recalled a previous incident with Robert, where he was struck by a wrench.

John got a shock later on, however, as Paddy revealed that he had deduced he was the one on the other end of the phone for the mental health helpline. Robert, meanwhile, was soon in the firing line as his case looked bleak.

John described the incident to Chas and eventually got his wish to see Aaron, who was unconscious in recovery. After lamenting how the pair got there, John’s intentions became clear.emmerdale's john in a hospital bed

“I was even willing to forgive you,” he said. “All you had to do was forget about Mack. We could’ve started again. A new life, just us. But not now, not anymore. You’ve ruined everything. And now, we don’t get our happy-ever-after. I’m sorry, Aaron.”

He then exclaimed ominously: “I still love you, in spite of everything. But I think it’s for the best if you never wake up.”

Will Robert be able to convince the others of John’s villainy, or will he escape justice forever?
