When Robert finally arrived at the cottage, he accused John of committing murder, but John remained defiant, saying: “Unlike you, Robert. I haven’t killed anyone.”
After the confrontation turned into a physical fight, Robert was left lying on the ground. When John checked to see if Robert was still alive, he was relieved not to have killed again.
His relief was short-lived after he spotted Aaron Dingle making an escape on camera. A distressed Aaron, now aware that his husband is involved in Mack’s disappearance, searched for Mack in the woods.

With a frantic John hot on Aaron’s heels, Aaron’s search for Mack became increasingly hopeless, and he was stopped in his tracks by a massive gorge.
Turning around, Aaron came face to face with John, who tried to improvise a cover story. Aaron, seeing how unstable John really is, urged him to lead him to Mack.
“He’s alive,” John explained. “I’ve been looking after him. He was in a bad way. I didn’t want him to die. I’m telling you the truth. It was all for you Aaron. I didn’t want to fall in love with you, but I did.”
Just as John was on the verge of calling the police to confess, Robert appeared, and John accused Aaron of betraying him, saying: “I am so stupid. You tricked me. You brought him here, didn’t you? You’re in this together.”
As things became heated, John called the police to frame Robert, saying that his husband’s ex turned up and was threatening to kill them.
“I’ve already told you, Aaron. I just loved you too much,” John told Aaron, adding: “But if you can’t be mine, I’m sorry… you can’t be anyone’s.”
Robert jumped into the gorge with his arms around Aaron and their bodies were seen at the bottom of the ravine. Will either of them survive the fall? And will anyone find Mack?
