Speaking to RadioTimes.com following Wednesday’s National Television Awards, Farnworth, who debuted as John in August 2024, said that more drama is to come in the ever-changing storyline.

“It wouldn’t be Emmerdale without a few twists and turns, would it?” teased the actor, who previously played Andy Carver in Coronation Street. “So I’d say, just when you think something’s gonna go one way, it can always go another.”

Farnworth also explained that, while his character does indeed love Aaron, his traumatic past has caused him problems down the line when it comes to relationships, with the actor calling his character “possessive” and “dangerous”.john sugden, emmerdale

While John is attempting to get away with murder (literally), Charity is growing increasingly bitter at the sudden disappearance of her husband Mack, with actor Emma Atkins recently outlining her character’s state of mind.

“Charity’s so angry, she’s very defiant,” said Atkins. “She’s not stopped to really wonder why he’s gone missing; she just feels, ‘Right, crack on. This could be the end of our marriage.’ So, in her head, she’s resilient.”
