The Young and the Restless icon Melody Thomas Scott made a blunt confession about one of her legendary co-stars.
As Parade reported, Scott previously gushed over her former on-screen daughter, Heather Tom. Now the beloved actress has revealed some unexpected news to soap fans about Peter Bergman.
Melody Thomas Scott Is the Reason Peter Bergman Became Jack On The Young and the Restless
Bergman and Scott were guests on The Social CTV, where Scott dropped a bomb about how Bergman landed the role of Jack Abbott. Fans will recall that Terry Lester originated the role in 1980.
However, he opted to leave the show in 1989, leaving the powers that be scrambling to find their new leading man. After learning that All My Children had let Bergman go, Scott had a chat with her husband, Edward Scott, who was producing Y&R at the time.
“I was a huge All My Children fan, and I learned that they had let him go, and I thought they were insane,” she explained. “My husband was producing the show at the time, and I said, ‘This is your next Jack Abbott.’ Because we were desperately trying to find a replacement for Terry Lester, and I just knew even though his character on All My Children was nothing like Jack Abbott, I just knew he could do such a great job, and I was right.”
Bergman chimed in to say, “I send her a thank you note every year.” The actor also called it a “miracle” that fans embraced him as Jack, considering Lester was so beloved in the role.
These days, Bergman is Jack Abbot, having played the role for over 35 years.

The official The Social CTV Instagram account shared a clip from the interview, and The Young and the Restless fans flooded it with love for the two soap legends.
