FOX’s Murder in a Small Town is gearing up for a bigger and more dramatic second season, and the network has announced exciting new cast additions. Among the fresh faces are actors from two acclaimed series, The Good Doctor and Fargo, promising to bring even more depth and intrigue to the small-town mystery.
Bethany Brown, best known for her work on The Good Doctor, will join the cast as Corporal Laila Jackson, a strong yet vulnerable character who shares a history with Karl Alberg from his time in Minneapolis. Jackson, a recovering alcoholic, arrives in Gibsons with her own personal struggles, adding layers of complexity to the police department and its investigations. Her relationship with Alberg is expected to provide both support and conflict as the season’s cases unfold.
From Fargo, Joshua Close takes on the role of Todd, a homeless man living in Gibsons whose troubled life intersects with the central mystery of the season. His performance is anticipated to bring grit and raw emotion to the show’s narrative, reflecting the darker edges of small-town life.
Season 2 will also introduce Marci T. House as medical examiner Angela Clyburn and Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden as Mayor Christie Holman, further expanding the drama’s ensemble with powerhouse talent.
Returning to the screen are Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg and Kristin Kreuk as Cassandra Lee, alongside other familiar faces from Season 1. With Alberg taking on a broader caseload under growing pressure and Cassandra stepping into the political spotlight by running for town council, the new season will explore not only gripping crimes but also the evolving dynamics within Gibsons.
The upcoming episodes promise to tackle a wedding murder, a high-stakes kidnapping, and even the stalking of a pop star, ensuring the series continues to deliver both suspense and emotional storytelling. With the addition of talent from The Good Doctor and Fargo, Murder in a Small Town Season 2 looks set to deepen its reputation as one of network television’s most compelling new dramas.
