S.W.A.T. had a strong opening few seasons, and, whilst the ratings dipped in later years, the show still managed to attract a strong fanbase. What’s more, in Hondo the show provided one of the most complex and engaging characters on network television, and his journey will conclude in typical style with the series finale. There will be hope that a streamer like Netflix could save S.W.A.T. for a third time, but at this stage it feels unlikely. The show has run its course, earned two extra seasons, and can bow out on a high without overstaying its welcome.
